Lesson times – reduce to 45 minutes
In response to pupil wellbeing surveys and discussions with staff, we are going to reduce all lesson lengths to 45 minutes for KS3 and KS4 pupils.
- Period 1: 8.30-9.15
- Period 2: 9.30-10.15
- Period 3: 11.00-11.45
- Period 4: 1.00-1.45
- Period 5: 2.00-2.45
6th form lessons remain an hour long.
Hopefully these small changes will ease the pressure slightly. As ever, thanks for all you are doing.

Re: Welsh Government Announcement – 8 January 2021
Dear Parent/Carer
The First Minister today confirmed that he will bring the decision-making on schools and colleges into line with the Welsh Government’s three-week review timetable of 29 January. This means that students will continue to learn remotely until then.
At that point, unless the rates of community transmission in Wales reduce significantly by 29 January, most students in schools and colleges will continue working remotely until the February half term.
Qualifications Wales has also announced the cancelation of the spring internal assessment window (due between 22 February and 23 April) for GCSE, AS and A levels. The Minister for Education has confirmed that revised assessment arrangements for the award of these qualifications in summer 2021 will be put in place and an announcement will be made shortly.
I know that this is a difficult time for all at present, but I will continue to keep you informed.
Thank you for your continued support.
Kindest regards
Mr A D Williams
Headteacher
Virtual Sixth Form Open Evening 2020
During these challenging times, we are unable to hold a 6th Form Open Evening, like we normally do. However, we would like to invite you to our ‘Virtual Sixth Form Open Evening’. This can be accessed via YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_v2yn5zi-qDeTPeNCGhwiGfxWvqsPOOh
The Virtual Sixth Form Open Evening playlist contains videos which tell you about the sixth form, how the options process works, and the different subjects Radyr has to offer. There are also videos made by former students sharing their experiences of studying with us. In addition to this we have an interactive prospectus that contains more information about the sixth form and the courses we offer: https://www.radyrsixthform.org/
The Radyr Sixth Form Twitter site is a great starting point to learn more about the sixth form and the opportunities on offer : https://twitter.com/RadyrSixthForm
If you require any further information it can be found here in the ‘Sixth Form’ pages of the website.
